Turkey and The Deniers
Turkey and The Deniers
President Obama has been buttering up Europe on his whir wind tour... buy blaming the USA for everything, and how arrogant we are and etc...
Here is a wedding photo of my Great Uncle Garabed: Wedding Party in Hadjin, Turkey, Ca 1911 Garabed Keshishian & Knarig Dadalian. Of this entire group of 40 people, only 9 survived deportations of 1915 to Der Zoir, Syria and the Burning and Massacre of the entire population of Hadjin October 20, 1920. That is 9 people out of 40... But nothing ever happened? Right?
Turkey is our Muslim friend in the world, and how important they are to us... and how they will help make us look favorable to other Muslim nations... even though the Turkish population is not too favorable to the USA... in reference to Iraq and the USA supporting the PPK...
So, the question comes up... How will President Obama be able to keep his promise of the passage of the Armenian genocide resolution. Variations of this bill come up at least every other year, and are shot down, usually not even making out of committee hearings. Last year, it made it out of the committee hearings... but that was as far as it got.
Year after year, these bills are shot down... with the usuall reasoning... "It is not a good time to do this" (But really, when is a good time?).
The last time, it was the chance of losing the ability of transporting troops and supplies through Turkey to Iraq. Turkey has a history of threatening the USA over this subject. But they are are friends, right? We give them a Lot of money every year... really a lot!
As a American-Armenian, I can see both sides of the issue. I am an American, first and foremost, so anything that would jeopardize the USA is not in our interest... but at the same time Turkey is playing their hand, but we hold most of the good cards... so... maybe... that money that we are sending to Turkey, could be used here... to pay down our dept?
Regardless, Obama has now officially put himself in a bind... if he even really "Cares"... or as one former president would say "I feel Your Pain"... in other words... "I need your votes and adulation's, but I really don't care"
as my Uncle would say: "But... hay, if the Turks are right, and it never happened... I want my Grandfathers Farm Back."
Again, nothing will happen... I will be attending a great uncle's 95Th Birthday in Milwaukee... he was the last family member born in my Grandfather's village, Hadjin... Maybe, after they are all gone, will there be reconciliation. Otherwise, it's a dream.. one worth fighting for, but a dream.
The Turks wont settle this until they get their own Barack Obama as their President.

The psychiatric term "PROJECTION"
We start off with two definitions:
PROJECTION: A defense mechanism, operating unconsciously, in which what is emotionally unacceptable in the self is unconsciously rejected and attributed (projected) to others. (http://www.revitalizingpsychiatry.com/terms.html)
PROJECTIVE IDENTIFICATION: A term introduced by Melanie Klein to refer to the unconscious process of projection of one or more parts of the self or of the internal object into another person (such as the Democrat projecting onto the Republican). What is projected may be an intolerable, painful, or dangerous part of the self or object (the bad object).... The other person is changed by the projection and is dealt with as though he or she is in fact characterized by the aspects of the self that have been projected. (http://www.abess.com/glossary.html)
Now, this explains a lot... Now if we apply this to the subject of civil rights or welfare or entailment... just a few things that the Democrats use to smugly point their fingers at us and say "What Bad People We Are"... or "How Mean We Are". So let us go back, just a bit... to the 1960's... Ok, it's June 1964, there is some legislation going on... and there is a filibuster...Senator Robert C. Byrd filibustered for 14 hours and 13 minutes, Democrat Senator Al Gore(Sr.) voted against the 1964 Civil Rights Act as did segregationist Democrat Senator William J. Fulbright....just to name a few... But Republicans are Bad people... right? One of the only Republicans to vote against it was Goldwater. He voted against it, not because he didn't believe in equal rights, but that the implementation of the bill was unconstitutional... it was a legal mater... but when he ran for president in 1964, he was played as a racist by the democrats... so he lost, and the republicans lost the black vote ever since... all on a lie.
So by Projecting their own guilt onto the republicans, the democrats think their conscious' are clear... and they are the heroes... History keep repeating... and they keep getting away with it.
